About Perth

Heart of Scotland

Perth is a city of many names in the heart of Scotland, steeped in history and with proud royal connections. Perth is known as the Fair City because of Sir Walter Scott's 1828 novel The Fair Maid of Perth. In medieval times, Perth was known as 'St John's Toun', and retains some of this name through its football team St Johnstone. As well as rich history and heritage, the city is full of nature, including the magnificent river Tay.

A well connected city

Perth has an active and thriving business community and we are proud to be participants of that community as members of Perth Trader’s Association and Perth Ambassadors. As well as connections within the city, Perth is also well connected across Scotland and beyond making it an ideal place to visit whether just for the day or for a little longer. Perth's strong sense of identity means that locals and visitors alike enjoy spending time within its boundaries, exploring a wide range of local businesses and sampling the finest Scottish food and drink.

Something old and something new

The city of Perth has a rich and royal history. The Perth Distillery Co is proud to build upon - and add something to - the traditions of the city with our range of high-quality premium gins and gin experiences. Our gins are for anyone who loves gin, and for anyone who loves Perth. As ardent lovers of both, we are proud to share that love with you in every single drop we produce.
